I was born with a reading list I will never finish. -- Maud Casey
Lists
Below is a selection of all book lists that caught my eye. I preserved them in Evernote, and now that I have a book blog, it is logical to transfer them all here.
Another way to look at these lists would be like one'd look at Perpetual Challenges. I endeavour to read as many titles from there as possible. I figure the sky -- and my lifespan -- is the limit.
These get updated at random. Each one of them has a 'last updated' line in them somewhere, but I confess to sometimes forgetting to change the date when I update the contents.
- BBC's the Big Read
- Jezebel's 75 Books Every Woman Should Read
- Telegraph's 100 Novels Everyone Should Read
- Business Insider's Reading Through the US (by author)
- Business Insider's Reading Through the US (by book)
- Murakami Haruki's Works
- Jane Austen's Works
- Agatha Christie's Works
- NPR's Top Sci-Fi and Fantasy
- Gothic Books
- 1000 Novels Everyone Must Read, Guardian version
- Joseph Brodsky's Reading List for Having an Intelligent Conversation
- (to be updated with more lists as I format them)
Challenges
Against my better judgment, I joined quite a few challenges in 2014. Some of them, the more laid back ones or the ones that I'm sure will take me longer than a year to complete, are marked with an asterisk *. Otherwise they're listed alphabetically. All the details about particular challenge can be found at said challenge's page.
Any other events, like short challenges or readathons, will be linked below the main challenges list, probably after their completion.
