About

What is this place?

Read Anything Once is a book blog. I've been reading since I was about three years old. The only reason I haven't yet read thousands of books is because I've been talking since I was one, writing since I was six, subscribing to endless blogs since the dawn of RSS, and preoccupying myself with fanfiction since about thirteen. And then there's the small matter of television. And life. And the occasional sleep. I suppose.

Who is the reader?

A bored chronically bitchy failed English major with a penchant for cats and distilled beverages. I'd send you to my personal blog, but I'm terrified that my natural charm that I fully expose there will forever put you off from visiting this place. (And that one, too. And any other places that I might occupy or occasionally visit.)

What makes this book blog unique?

Nothing. Why beat around the bush? Nothing at all. Originally I wanted this to be a place where I challenge myself to read the required list of literature for Journalism programme of MSU in half the allotted time (I'm kinda doing it, but not at a race pace I originally had in mind). Then I thought maybe focussing it on Gutenberg/ public domain books only (it kinda is, considering the amount of classics I read). Then I thought, free Kindle numbers! (Do that too; am cheap/ poor). Then I thought, no, no I can't. My reading is all over the place.

So this blog reflects this. My reading is all over the place. Is that unique?

Any special features?

1. I maintain an extensive amount of book lists (the aforementioned MSU Journo degree required reading; 1001 Books Before You Die, etc., etc. -- see page creatively titled Lists & Challenges for links and such).

2. There's also a (bi)monthly feature, wherein I round up books I read that were downloaded from Amazon for free, whether they are public domain for Kindle or releases by authors and publishers. Most of the time these are short stories or quick guides to anything, and don't warrant a separate post. If they do, then I'll write a post and then link it up from monthly digest. I might start doing a similar feature for Gutenberg releases. (Please note, as this blog is young, I've yet to publish any of these posts.)

3. While we're on the subj of free books, I compiled a list of totally legal free e-book resources.

Any place else to find you?

Goodreads. Can't be arsed with anything else, my deepest apologies. I wanted to do a facebook page for this blog, but then I logged into facebook and an ad there tracked my location down to the street and block and house, and my apps didn't even issue a warning, so I said, no facebook for me. Nope.
